From Johannesburg and Pretoria follow the N4 towards Witbank past Middelburg, then there is the choice of three scenic routes:

Route1: Continue on the N4 towards Nelspruit via Schoemanskloof, just after Montrose turn off onto the R539 towards Sudwala Caves! Drive 15km to Rosehaugh and ten turn left to drive 26km to Sabie via Hendriksdal. At the T-junction on Long Tom Pass you turn right, to reach the town of Sabie after a short descent of about 7km from the Pass.

Route 2: Turn off from the N4 highway shortly before Belfast onto the R33. Drive through the town of Belfast and at the last 4-way stop in Belfast turn right onto the R540 and travel 35km to Dullstroom, straight through the town of Dullstroom and another 72km to Lydenburg. Drive into the town of Lydenburg until you reach the big 4 way stop and turn right onto the R37 to travel 56km over the Long Tom Pass to Sabie.

NB: On both these routes you can expect thick misty fog during rainy weather and in the night on Long Tom Pass.
