This half day rafting trip will take you through 20 rapids (grade 2-3) on the Sabie River. The riverbank is covered in scenic vegetation and the whole area boasts outstanding wildlife.
Along the way you will get the chance to hop out of the raft to swim, bum slide and wave surf your way down the river.
The 8-km route is suitable for beginners but has enough thrills to keep adventure lovers enthralled.
All the participants should come to the office to complete all the necessary paper work and payment.
At the office you will be introduced to your guide and given a thorough safty talk.
In the summer months the river is high enough that the trip can start over the road from the office. Between May and November when the water is typically a lot lower, then you will be driven to a drop in point around 3km away.
Drinks and snacks will be provided around half way down the river.
All cancellations or changes must be received in writing. No verbal instructions will be accepted.
The rules for cancellation are as follows:
- Cancellation made 4-5 days prior to date of the event will result in a fee of 50% of the total amount.
- Cancellation made 1-3 days prior to date of the event will result in a fee of 75% of the total amount.
- Cancellation made on the day of the event or a No Show will result in a fee of 100% of the total amount.
Guests are informed that since they will get wet, they should have a swimming costume. They are advised to bring their sunscreen lotions too
You will get wet on this trip so dress sensibly. Wear strap on sandles, old sneakers or you can go barefoot.
It's often a good idea to wear a T-shirt over your swimming suit. It will help protect you from getting sunburnt.
Wear a cap under your helmet for extra sun protection.
Remember to apply sunscreen around a hour before the trip starts and take the bottle with you to reapply throughout the day. If you are going barefoot, don't forgot the top of your feet!
Bring along an extra set of dry clothes for afterwards, especially in the cooler seasons.
It's not recommended that you take your own camera down the river. Risk of damage is quite high and it is diffucult to take photos while you are paddling. There is a photographic service which will capture images of you rafting through the rapids. CD's can be purchased at the office after the trip for R100 each.
